1907 marks a momentous and auspicious occasion in the history of Bhutan. It heralded a propitious beginning for Bhutan after years of internal strife and conflict ended with the unanimous election of Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuk as the first King of Bhutan on 17th December 1907. Peace descended on the country and the country the process of nation building gained primacy and momentum, laying the foundations of a strong, progressive and modern Bhutan. Since then, the extraordinary leadership and steadfast commitment of our sucess.1907 is a tribute to the Institution of Monarchy - the symbole of unity and the source of inspiration and hope for the people of Bhutan.
